The types of visas for Australia are:

The Australian Visitor visa.
This is a visa that is valid for 12 months. Every entry allows for 3 months of stay. As the name explains, the visa is used for tourists to experience Australia. It doesn’t allow for working.

The Australian working holiday visa.
This visa is for people between 18 and 31. It’s valid for 12 months and it allows for a stay of max. 6 months at a time. It allows to visa holder to work during this period and the maximum length can be extended if you have evidence of 3 or more months of seasonal work. It can allow you for an additional 12 months of stay.

The Australian business visa.
When you have business interests in Australia this might the visa for you. You don’t have to be the owner or manager, you can also be granted this visa as an employee representing a company (or their country) in australia. The Spouse, Fiance, Partner and De Facto Visa.

For people in an “Ongoing romantic relationship” with a permanent resident of Australia, this might be the  easiest visa to get. You need to be in a relationship for a minimum of one year and need to provide proof of that. In the case of marriage, that shouldn’t be too hard. But for defacto relationships, they will need the whole lot, like: photos, joined bank statements and declerations by (Australian) friends. The application combines the application for a two year temporary and the permanent visa following the temporary.

The Australian student visa.
When you are (going to be) studying in Australia, you can apply for a student visa. It allows for at least three months. Obviously you need proof of you enrolement into an recognised educational institution.

Transiting through Australia.
When you are just passing through Australia, these are the options that you can use. If you are leaving Australia within 8 hours of arrival and hold valid travel documents.
